LikemisschinatownusaThe MCU Class of 2018 and the 2017 court visit the Hoy Ping Benevolent Association this AM. This is the first of several stops where the contestants visit family associations and community groups in SF Chinatown. They customarily award the representative whose lineage hails from ancestral region in China a traditional “gum pai” gold necklace to commemorate their achievement and as a sign of support and goodwill. This historical tradition is what makes the Miss Chinatown pageant truly unique.
